Whiplash diagnosis
Diagnosis of whiplash is usually based on observing the patients symptoms, medical history, and a physical and neurological examination to determine the extent of injury to the neck and spine. X-rays may also be used to eliminate the possibility of fracture.
Depending on the patient's symptoms, a CAT Scan, MRI, or other imaging tests may be necessary to assess the condition of the cervical spine's soft tissues including intervertebral discs, muscles and ligaments.
