Work related driving is a top risk
In a bid to prevent work-related car accidents Brake, the road safety charity, has launched a new nationwide campaign for fleet managers to encourage safe driving amongst their company drivers.
The campaign focuses on seven safety-critical pledges that drivers can make in order to improve their driving and reduce the risk of road traffic accidents.
Mike Brown, fleet services director, Balfour Beatty Plant and Fleet Services who have helped fund the campaign website www.pledge2drivesafely.org, says, “We consider that at-work driving is one of the top five fatal risks in our organisation.
- Sober Up
- Wake Up
- Buck Up
- Check Up
- Belt Up
- Shut Up
- Slow Down
"We work very hard to ensure our drivers are fully risk assessed and trained to the highest standards via our training team and our risk management survey and in house driving simulator facility.
"We also have a number of ongoing campaigns helping to raise road safety awareness. We are happy to support Brake in its work towards our common goals of improving safety for our drivers.”
The dedicated website features video interviews with relatives bereaved by work-related car accidents in a bid to bring home the stark realisation that such a work accident can have devastating consequences.
