Work injury claim news 11/07/2011
Catering burns compensation caseA woman from Luton who suffered severe burns to her groin, buttocks and back when she fell into a scalding vat of chicken curry is making a work injury claim for compensation, says her personal injury lawyer. The 47-year-old was working for a catering firm when the incident happened – she was alone in the kitchen when she slipped into the industrial cooking pot and was left on her own there for ten minutes, during which time she feared for her life. A spokesperson with East Midlands Ambulance Service commented, "We were called on 9 October at 3.23pm to a woman who had fallen in a boiling pot. "She was taken by paramedics from Luton to Luton and Dunstable Hospital with burns to her upper legs and buttocks." The solicitor handling the woman's work injury claim said that she had been unable to return to working life since the workplace accident. Although the claimant's employer has gone into liquidation since the incident, the work injury claim is expected to go to court.
