Widow makes asbestos claim for 'void' in her life
The 60-year-old widow of a man who developed mesothelioma as a result of exposure to asbestos is making a claim for £300,000 in asbestos compensation from his former employers.
It is believed that the man developed the asbestos-related condition after years employed as a decorator spent working with asbestos-lagged pipes.
His widow who lives in Greater Manchester said, "Trevor was my best friend. We had big plans for the future. We were going to get a bike and ride around America."
"I retired this week and he should have been here to share it with me. But now I'm on my own, wondering how to fill the void left by his death."
It is estimated that 1,900 people in the UK will die from mesothelioma as a result of asbestos in this year alone.
