Taxi crash boy suffers whiplash injury

A teenager with special needs suffered a whiplash injury after being trapped inside a taxi following a car accident on the A249 near Sittingbourne, Kent.

The 13-year-old boy was sitting in the back of the vehicle with two school mates and a woman escort when it was involved in the road crash with a Vauxhall Corsa.

The manager at the taxi company said, "It was raining quite hard. After the vehicles hit, the taxi span around and finished up on the central reservation. Luckily no one was seriously hurt - it could have been a lot worse."

The other boys, the escort and the driver got out of the car themselves and were uninjured but shaken after the taxi accident.

Fire officers cut the roof from the taxi for ambulance crew to remove the boy in case he had spinal injuries. He was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital but was able to go home later that day after being diagnosed with a whiplash injury.
