Two hurt in car crash with escaping horse

A driver and passenger who were hurt in a car crash with a horse, which ran out of its field, may be able to claim personal injury compensation from the animal's owner or other person responsible for it escaping onto the road.

The vehicle accident, on the A600 between Holwell, Hertfordshire, and Lower Stondon, Bedfordshire, near Henlow, ended in the death of the horse from its injuries.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said the man and woman in the car had suffered minor injuries.

It is believed the horse was in collision with the vehicle after getting out of a field adjoining the road.

Many owners of horses have public liability insurance to cover their animals for instances of damage or personal injury, such as a car crash or other horse accident, in which they could be involved and where legal action might be taken.
