£6 million paid out for compensation claims
It has been revealed that the Metropolitan Police Force has paid out £6 million for compensation claims made in the last year.
Of that sum, £3.26 million was paid out for road traffic accidents and £2.76 million was paid to members of the public who suffered personal injuries whilst on police premises.
It was also announced that in 2006, the force received 1,597 accident claims in relation to car crashes and 1,982 for non-motor accidents.
In the future, the Metropolitan Police Force could receive further no win, no fee compensation claims made by members of the public who have contacted personal injury solicitors.
