Negligent surgeon barred from further breast operations

A surgeon found liable in a successful medical negligence claim has been banned from performing breast surgery on a permanent basis.

The woman's clinical negligence solicitor expressed regret on behalf of his compensation claim clients that the doctor has been found fit to practise in other areas of medicine.

When the victim began her compensation claim in 2003, she had suffered life-threatening infections and had been left with breasts so badly misshapen that she was referred to an NHS surgeon for corrective surgery.

As a result of the publicity surrounding this medical negligence claim, 17 further women have come forward with complaints regarding the banned doctor. Five cases have already been settled out of court.
