Personal injury solicitor news 24/10/2008
Charity worker awarded compensation for pothole fallThe personal injury solicitor representing a charity worker who suffered devastating brain injuries when he tripped and fell over a pothole has secured her client £1 million compensation. The 33-year-old was returning home with a group of friends after a night out in North London when, after falling slightly behind the group, he broke into a light jog before tripping over a three-inch deep and 15-inch wide pothole. The fall caused him to suffer a fractured skull and injuries to his frontal lobe. Despite neurosurgery and neurological treatment the Australian-born man is now wheelchair-bound and has had to resign from his job with a UK national charity for children. His personal injury solicitor managed to secure the payout in an out-of-court settlement, which has now been approved by a judge who described the accident as "shocking but remarkable". The 33-year-old's personal injury solicitor commented, "I am pleased that we have been able to recover compensation… so that he is able to join his family in Australia and begin to rebuild his life."
