Denver plane crash survivors to receive compensation

Personal injury lawyers specialising in passenger injury claims have said that all of the 100 passengers who were onboard the Continental Airlines Boeing 737 which crashed during takeoff from Denver International Airport are likely to receive compensation.

This is despite the fact that only 58 of those onboard suffered injuries.

"I think it would be fair to say that everyone on the plane will recover something. There is clear liability in this case, and now it's an issue of determining fair amounts of compensation," said one lawyer.

"The thing we see over and over in survivors is the delayed onset of post-traumatic stress or emotional issues. Those symptoms usually don't appear for several months, but they can directly affect compensation," commented another passenger injury claim specialist.

Although not commenting directly on the probability of impending passenger injury claims, Continental Airlines said that its first priority was to provide "support and assistance" to survivors, while "customising their individual needs".
