Motorway crash injures 70
Around 70 people are reported to have suffered personal injury, including whiplash, in a German motorway pile-up involving 259 cars. The car crash occurred over the weekend on the A2 between Hanover and Peine. Emergency service workers worked at the scene throughout the night treating back injuries, head injuries and whiplash. It is understood that ten of those hospitalised remain in a critical condition. A firefighter who attended the scene told press, "I have not seen anything like this before. I have seen many accidents but never a pile-up this size." Car accident investigators are busy looking into the causes on the incident. A number of compensation claims, including some for whiplash, are expected to follow.
