Banstead man wins brain injury claim

A 21-year-old man who sustained a brain injury in a road accident when he was a teenager has won a compensation claim eight years after the incident.

The man, who was 13-years-old at the time, had been cycling across an A-road in Banstead when he was struck by a car.

He suffered traumatic injuries to his brain which affected his mood, personality, concentration and memory, and led to problems at school.

It has been reported that the man was left in a coma following the accident and also sustained a lacerated liver as well as fractured ribs and jaw.

Although the man claimed damages to pay for his care and other needs through his mother, his lawyers agreed that the payout should be settled on a 50-50 basis.

The exact amount awarded in the compensation claim has been kept confidential but will offer the man financial security for the future.
