No win, no fee claims 11/05/2007
Lord Chancellor hits out at false schools allegations
Lord Falconer, the Lord Chancellor, has attacked parents and pupils who make false no win, no fee compensation claims against schools.
Speaking to the National Association of Head Teachers in Bournemouth he said, "We all agree that serious allegations must be investigated, and children should feel safe." But he added that he felt a number of unscrupulous no win, no fee solicitors were encouraging parents to make false compensation claims.
A spokesperson for UK personal injury solicitors Accident Compensation People said, "I wholeheartedly agree with the Lord Chancellor. False personal injury claims are a burden to everyone: the taxpayer, the courts, the education sector, and the no win, no fee system. It is a great shame these false claims tarnish the image of genuine and pressing no win, no fee claims."
