Prisoner awarded personal injury compensation
It has been revealed an inmate at Liverpool Prison was awarded £2.8 million last year in personal injury compensation.
The Daily Post reported that a prisoner was awarded a large sum of compensation for the personal injuries he sustained whilst trying to commit suicide.
The news comes just as it has been announced that injury compensation payouts to prisoners in the UK totalled more than £4 million in 2005/2006.
Glyn Travis, assistant director of the Prison Officers Association, said, "If the Prison Service has been negligent or failed an individual, then they have the right to claim compensation."
In the future, we could find that many prison inmates could be eligible to consult compensation solicitors to make personal injury compensation claims.
