Accident claim news 03/05/2007
Headmaster gives lesson in fraudA South African primary school headmaster has pleaded guilty to lodging a fraudulent car accident claim.
The headmaster's two daughters have also pleaded guilty to making false car accident claims for compensation under pressure from their father. In the headmaster's defence his solicitor said that in the aftermath of a minor car accident he had been approached by an 'ambulance chasing no win, no fee claims farmer' who encouraged him that it was his right to make a compensation claim.
The headmaster then pressured his two daughters into making no win, no fee claim statements, even though they had not been anywhere near the vicinity at the time of the road accident.
He also made an accident claim for personal injury compensation even though he was not actually in the car at the time of accident.
The case will resume once the headmaster's two daughters have secured legal representation.
