Gazza seriously injured in car crash

Paul Gascoigne could make a car accident claim after he was involved in a car crash which left him seriously ill.

The former England footballer was one of three people injured when the car they were travelling in crashed into a building at Sandhill on Newcastle's Quayside.

Witnesses to the scene described seeing the blue Vauxhall Astra Gascoigne was travelling in swerve at high speed around a corner before veering out of control.

The 36-year-old woman driver was questioned on suspicion of drink-driving and was bailed pending further police investigation.

An onlooker said, "There was a massive crash. The car was smoking. Gazza looked really bad there was blood everywhere."

The ex-Tottenham and Newcastle player was said to be in a "comfortable condition" and his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Depending on the severity of his injuries, the former football star may decide to make a car accident claim for the injuries he suffered.
