Family make accident compensation claim for daughter's injuries
A girl who suffered severe head injuries when she was kicked by a horse has been awarded an interim payment of £56,500 after making an accident compensation claim.
Jade Spillman was just four years old when the near fatal accident happened at Bradfield Riding Centre in Berkshire during 2004.
She was visiting the yard with her mother when the horse suddenly kicked out and caused her to suffer serious personal injuries.
Jade was rushed to Royal Berkshire Hospital and spent nearly a month in intensive care before being released with severe disabilities.
Her mother, Theresa, said that her daughter was partially paralysed and had to relearn how to talk, speak and eat.
Theresa decided to instruct personal injury solicitors and made an accident compensation claim for £400,000.
If was feared that this amount could over compensate Jade and so at London High Court the family was awarded £56,500.
