Fatal industrial accident as barbecue explodes

A Scottish grinder operator has died in a tragic industrial accident this weekend when the barbecue he was making out of a metal drum exploded.

The man was working in a light engineering workshop in the Grampian area. It is thought that the drum he had been working on had previously contained flammable thinners, which ignited, causing the work accident.

The other people in the workshop received no personal injury. Several went to the grinder operator's aid, but were unable to save him.

Local fire fighters attended the scene of the explosion, along with a specialist unit from Aberdeen. Police have confirmed that they are investigating the industrial accident with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), and have said that there do not seem to be suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
