Accident claim news 08/06/2007
Council paying for pedestrian falls
New statistics released by Northamptonshire County Council reveal that in the past four years they have forked out around £700,000 in personal injury accident claims made by people who have tripped and fallen over uneven paving stones, footpaths and kerbs.
In that period there were 198 successful personal injury accident claims against the council and a further 541 unsuccessful compensation claims.
A high percentage of those successful accident claims were no win, no fee claimants using the services of personal injury solicitors.
The statistics do not account for car accident claims, pothole claims or tree root damage claims.
Personal injury accident claims against councils must generally be made within three years from the date of the accident.
