Man compensated for work accident after slipping on floor

A cleaner has won a claim for accident at work compensation after suffering a serious knee injury in a fall.

The claimant, who is originally from Poland, had been working for a door solutions company in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, when the work accident took place. As he moved a 30kg wooden sawbuck he slipped on dangerous flooring and fell to the ground, causing him to sustain injuries to his knee.

Following an investigation into the accident it was discovered that the floor he had been working on was painted with regular paint as opposed to anti-slip paint designed to prevent such accidents from occurring.

Due to the severity of his injuries the man needs crutches to get around and requires regular physiotherapy to rehabilitate him. He was also unable to return to work for several weeks, causing him to suffer a substantial loss of income.

The man's employer has since admitted liability for the accident and has awarded the claimant with £12,000 in accident at work compensation in an out-of-court settlement.
