Motorway crash leaves two young women in hospital

A 22-year-old woman is fighting for her life after a motorway car crash on the M74.

The woman is in a critical condition after she was a passenger in a Vauxhall Corsa driven by another 22-year-old woman which had an accident near Bothwell Services.

Both women were taken to Wishaw General Hospital where the driver was treated for arm injuries. The passenger was transferred to Glasgow's Southern General Hospital.

At the time of the crash, the Corsa was heading south when the car left the road and crashed and went onto the motorway embankment at about 5:15pm.

Police are appealing for witnesses to help with their investigations.

It has not been reported whether relatives of the passenger will be making a compensation claim against the driver for the personal injury she sustained in the car crash.
