Air ambulance called in following Sussex road accident

A motorist had to be taken to hospital by air ambulance following a car crash on a Sussex A-road on Saturday night in which he collided with a Ford Transit van.

A significant amount of diesel was spilt over the road during the incident, causing emergency services to close the road for two hours so that they could clear the thoroughfare and prevent a potential second car crash.

Although the Peugeot 406 driver had to be cut free from his vehicle then airlifted to hospital suffering suspected serious head injuries, police have said his situation is not critical.

It is unknown whether either party plans to make an accident compensation claim for injuries sustained in the collision.
