"Distressed and tearful" girl wins compensationAUSTRALIA – A tragic car crash has resulted in a payout of more than $700,000 (Australian) personal injury compensation after the claimant suffered multiple personal injuries and lost her mother in the incident. The car crash claim payout is understood to take account for the fact that the claimant, now 21 but 17 at the time of the accident, suffers chronic spinal pain, is unable to work and has had her once promising education derailed. The girl was driving her mother in a sedan when a four-wheel-drive vehicle hit them. The occupant of the four-wheel-driver only suffered minor personal injury. After hearing evidence from the car crash claimant and her personal injury lawyer, the judge hearing the case said that the "stoic" girl "clearly deeply misses her mother."
