Stuntman fined and sentenced for fatal head injury smash
A stuntman who worked on a number of James Bond films as well as the 1969 classic The Italian Job has been handed an 18-month suspended prison sentence for causing a fatal car accident during the filming of a car chase sequence for action comedy Taxi 2. Although an appeal by the stuntman means that his sentence has been reduced to six months suspended, he was still fined and ordered to pay personal injury compensation to the family of the cameraman killed in the car accident. Furthermore, the production company owned by the stuntman has also been ordered to pay a fine for breaches leading to an accident at work. The car accident happened when a stunt car fitted with specially adapted foils became airborne and crashed into the cameraman, causing fatal head injuries.
