Car accident compensation for police chase crash

Car accident compensation may be sought after a serious crash involving a police car led to the deaths of three people in Greater Manchester.

A police car had been in pursuit of a Vauxhall Vectra when it crashed at speed into a garden wall in Middleton Road, Chadderton, near Oldham.

The police car had stopped the car for running a red light but the driver sped off at high speed.

Two men and one woman were killed in the crash and another woman was seriously injured.

A witness to the scene described the moment of the crash like "a bomb was going off."

The garden wall the car crashed into was destroyed in the incident and the walls of two neighbouring properties were also damaged.

The superintendent in charge of the investigation said that the police car in pursuit of the vehicle was a "considerable" distance behind because the car was going at such high speeds.

The Independent Police Complaints Committee will now be looking into the circumstances surrounding the crash as is usual in incidents involving police officers.

It is not known at this stage whether relatives of the passengers in the Vauxhall are likely to make a car accident compensation claim.
