Car accident compensation news 13/05/2010
Teenager dies after drink drive crashRelatives of a teenager killed in a car crash in Wigan may make a car accident compensation claim against the 21-year-old driver who was found guilty of drink driving. The 19-year-old passenger, who was also the owner of the car, allowed a male friend to drive her MG sports car in the early hours of August 28 last year when he lost control of the vehicle and hit the garden walls of two houses. Witnesses to the car accident described the car as driving at high speed as it approached the Skew Bridge on Warrington Road in Newtown. Emergency services attended the scene and had to cut free both the driver and the teenage woman. Sadly the woman was later pronounced dead at Wigan Royal Infirmary. The driver has been jailed for five and a half years after pleading guilty to dangerous driving and driving without insurance. A Police Constable dealing with the incident commented: "This incident led to the tragic death of a young, popular woman who was looking forward to going to university." It has not been reported if the relatives of the woman who died are likely to make a compensation claim against the driver.
