Scottish football fan to claim for Barcelona accident

A Rangers football club fan who suffered leg injuries in a Barcelona bus accident is seeking £600,000 compensation, the Daily Record reports.

The Scottish father-of-two had been returning from watching a Champions League tie between Rangers and Barcelona when he was hit by a bus's wing mirror before being dragged under the bus, suffering leg injuries so severe that he would eventually need an amputation.

The 43-year-old has lodged his bus accident claim against Barcelona City Council. He claims that they should be found liable on the grounds that the pavement he was walking along was so narrow that it made such an accident inevitable.

"Our understanding is that pedestrians should be banned from the pavement he was walking along," commented the man's no win, no fee lawyer.

Adding, "It runs between two busy roads and narrows abruptly at the point where he was run over.

"There are no signs indicating that pedestrians should not use it. [The bus accident claimant] saw a pavement and thought he was safe.

"The terrible scars he has suffered are no fault of his own."
