Caravan loses wheel on motorwayCar accident compensation claims were narrowly avoided after a caravan lost a wheel while travelling on a motorway. The caravan accident occurred on the A3 (M) between Farlington and the junction with the A27 Havant Bypass. Towed by a car, the caravan was entering the motorway when the wheel came off, causing the caravan to slide a few yards before it safely came to a halt. Despite causing disruption to heavy afternoon rush hour traffic, no-one was injured and no other cars were damaged. Hampshire Police and the Highways Agency closed lane one of the northbound carriageway while they worked to clear the debris. A spokesperson for Hampshire Police said, "We believe the caravan to have been roadworthy, so we can't say what caused the accident." Thankfully as no other cars were involved in the incident, no car accident compensation claims will have to be made.
