Family may contact solicitor to make holiday damages claim
After becoming the victims of a fire during a hotel stay in Turkey a family have said that they have not ruled out making a compensation claim.
The family of four had been staying in Marmaris when a fire that started in the hotel's sauna forced them to flee; however, this was not before the mother and her 11-year-old son both suffered injury for which they would later need hospital treatment.
Despite receiving a £100 "gesture of goodwill" from the holiday tour operator, the family have said they may yet seek compensation for their holiday injuries. The mother commented, "I am glad to have got some money, but I would still like some sort of compensation."
She added, "The fire happened on the Monday night and it wasn't until the Thursday that it sunk in for me. It has affected us all differently."
While not commenting directly on the proposed compensation action, the tour operator did say, "The family received a refund for a prescription, a meal, a taxi and a free bus transfer to another hotel and a free upgrade to half-board basis at the new hotel."
"The family have already been offered and accepted £100 as a gesture of goodwill plus a further £50 of holiday vouchers per person, which are being sent out by our customer services department."
