Is it too late for me to make a compensation claim?
If you have been hurt in an accident and want to make a claim for compensation against another person or company that you believe was responsible for your injuries you have three years from the date of the accident in which to issue Court proceedings against them (or three years from the date on which you first became aware of your injuries, which may be much later in some cases, such as industrial disease)
There are exceptions to this three year time limitation. The main ones are:
If the injured person is a child the three years usually starts from when they turn 18
If the claim is for assault you have six years in which to make a claim (this is reduced back to three years if you are applying for Criminal Injuries Compensation CIC)
Time limits are also likely to be different if your accident happened in another country
