Asbestos exposure results in compensation claim
A Blackpool man who is suffering from an asbestos-linked cancer has launched a six-figure personal injury compensation claim against his former employees.
David Battison, a former railway worker, who now lives in Fedora Avenue, Marton, has contracted mesothelioma, a cancer that affects the tissues surrounding his lungs and abdomen, and blames British Rail for the condition.
Mr Battison worked for the company for many years in various locations around the UK and he claims that it is during this time that he was exposed to deadly asbestos dust and fibres. He is accusing British Rail of breach of statutory duty and negligence and is demanding an unspecified amount of compensation.
Top personal injury solicitors have estimated that the ex-railway worker could be in line for a payout of more than £250,000 if his compensation claim proves successful.
