Physical assaults on professional service people
Research made by the insurer AXA has discovered that a number of work related accidents are
caused by physical assault.
A large majority of employers will have adequate insurance to cover accident at work claims for people
who have suffered serious personal injuries by possibly tripping over or using machinery.
But according to the recent research, it appears a number of personal injuries are being caused by
employees being assaulted by customers, especially those working in the professional sector.
It appears that 15 per cent of employees working as lawyers, consultants and accountants are injured by customers.
Douglas Barnett, risk control strategy manager at AXA, said, "Accidents and injuries sustained in the workplace can be extremely costly for companies through employees having to take time off to recover or because of compensation payouts for accident at work claims."
