Crocidolite – blue asbestos
Blue asbestos is the hardest type of asbestos, but still flexible and resistant to acids. It was the least used of the three main forms of asbestos (less than 10%), and was typically used in asbestos-cement products.

From around 1970 the asbestos industry maintained a voluntary ban on the import into the UK of raw blue asbestos. However, the ban did not cover the import of asbestos products. The UK government finally imposed a legal ban on both blue and brown and any products containing them with The Asbestos Products (Safety) Regulations in 1985.
